Sweet Frog Meet-Up

22 July 2024:

[Catch-up post]

Caught some great synergy yesterday as Tara, Jeff, Evan, and their new puppy passed right through Martinsburg on their way to Oklahoma for Colin's graduation from basic training. So Isla, Krista, and I met them at the Sweet Frog just off 81 for a quick visit. Really lovely that it worked out!

Soccer Tante?

[Catch-up post...]

16 May 2021: When Colin was little, I got a chance to see him play exactly one baseball game. It was so much fun. He's quite the athlete, but because I live far away and tend to visit when school isn't in session, I don't get many opportunities. It's too bad because I realized on Sunday that I am still delighted by a game at just about any level. I saw Evan play soccer and, whew, even a bunch of 6 and 7 year-olds playing was a blast.

Works for me...

13 July 2020: "Her so nice!" --my nephew Evan's opinion of me, according to my sister. This remains a consistent descriptor from him towards me. I called to ask about birthday gift ideas for him when she shared this.

At the end of a long day with some moments of real frustration, I'll take it.

Passing through...

5 July 2020: Saw Tara, Jeff, and the kids for a bit as they were passing through this way. Lovely to see them. Not getting to hug was sad, but maybe a small sacrifice to feel a bit safer.

Evan's baptism...

28 July 2019: Quick trip up to NY for Evan's baptism. He fits right in with all of these weirdos (myself included).

Conversations with my little nephew...

30 May 2019: "I have an ant! Or a grasshopper. No. An ant." --excerpts from a fascinating conversation with my nephew Evan.

His mother later confirmed: it's an ant he brought home from pre-school. He's keeping it in a jar. She told him he should probably free it but he said he's "just not ready to let it go yet."

It's official!

7 February 2019: See this handsome little dude, all dressed up for his big day? He's my (now official) nephew, Evan, and my sister and her husband finalized his adoption today. So thrilled for him...and us!
