8 February 2014: Yesterday I downloaded a copy of this song. I love the way these girls sing and this song just makes me happy--a nice, quiet kind of happy. I needed that yesterday. Give it a listen. The words are really simple and beautiful. (And this video clip features the amazing Connie Britton.)
"We used to think...when I was an unsifted girl...that words were weak and cheap. Now I don't know of anything so mighty." -Emily Dickinson

"All the Y'alls from Tami Taylor"
This is so perfect. I've been using "y'all" more or less all the time since college, no small linguistic adjustment for a born-and-bred New Yorker. It is second nature now, coming effortlessly from my mouth, much to the amusement of certain family members. It is, of course, an eminently useful pronoun, especially for teachers. That say, I found even more justification in the my continuing effort to be the sort of person Tami Taylor would be friends with. I adore the sheer variety of uses and inflections she employs in this compilation, from the enthusiastic greeting, to the frustrated appeal to a group, to the rhetorical "Come on, y'all" spoken to a traffic jam.
Enjoy the video, y'all!

Connie Britton interview
This woman can do no wrong. I'd watch her do anything. Anyway, check out this interview. Worth noting (in no particular order of interest):
- She still keeps in touch with members of the FNL cast (all the cool ones, of course) and had to close her eyes while watching Taylor Kitsch in Savages. (Aww!)
- She also has to close her eyes while watching parts of American Horror Story. (Me, too, but mostly for those uber-creepy opening credits.)
- She was worried about what FNL fans would think of "Mrs. Coach" in such a different role on AHS. No worries, Connie: you rocked it on AHS.
- Nashville will feature original music from folks like Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, and T-Bone Burnett. How amazing is that?
