Should parents have the right to name their children whatever they want? Is it the government's business? My gut (well, my libertarianism) says no. So if I ruled the world, well, you could go ahead and name your daughter Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii.
UPDATE: check out this story from CNN.com in which iReporters talk about their own unusual names. I think Bluzette is pretty cool--and what kid wouldn't want to be Indiana Jones?

I don't know... I think I am on the fence with that one. There are parts of me that think you should be able to name your child whatever you want. But... then I see the point about using offensive or embarrassing names. I wouldn't want wanted to be named Tulula does the Hula from Hawaii! That is just insane.
I wish my parents named me Dizzle on the Trizzle.
ok.... so if I were to have a child and it were a boy... and we wanted to give him a crazy name to boost his moral and ensure he gets himself a lady (or lots of them)... I would call him ....
"they call me tripod"
I know... I am horrible! can't help it...
Ahh, "Tripod!" I can remember the first day I heard you drop that memorable name.
I thought "tripod" came from Robin. Am I really that old that I have confused all of my college memories? Sigh.
Hmmm...I thought it was Shannon, but I am remembering Robin making an appearance or two in the green notebook. I think her contributions (while awesome) were different than the oh-so-memorable "Tripod."
What do you think, Shan?
